[PC] Guild Wars or WoW?

I was wondering whether I should get Guild Wars or WoW.I am thinking about getting Guild Wars because there is no monthly fee but I wanted to see your opinions before I buy incase I make a wrong decision.

I have both games, although i only ever play WoW on private servers (don't fancy playing retail yet). I would definetly say that WoW > GW in my opinion as there is alot more to do, raids/BG etc, whereas on GW there are PvP arenas and you can kill folk, but there is not alot of teamwork like WoW .. you have a 25 man raid on WoW, and the max ive seen for teams on GW was 8.. (im not that far yet so it may get larger.. i dunno). Also i would have to say i thinjk you have a much greater selection of weapons on WoW compared to GW.. but that's just my opinion again.

So i say WoW > GW , but both are playable.

Hmm, just out of wonder, do u need to pay the subscription to play on private servers?

Yeah i am thinking of getting that but if you play private servers on WoW then there is no subscription to pay which makes it even better.Is there private servers for Guild Wars??

I don't believe there are any GW emulators.. so no there are no private servers (that in know of) :winky:

Hmm, well that certainly influences my decision.So is Wloczykij correct? Must you still pay the WoW subscription if you play on private servers?

No you don't if you play on priv servs. GW has entertained me for years. it really depends which you enjoy more. situational tbh.

Wloc never did say you had to pay the subscription for WoW if your on a server, and that is true you don't.

Just obtain the game.. in whichever fashion you chose, change the realmlist, and away you play for free :winky:

I don't think it's fair to compare those two games, because they're not quite in the same category. WoW is for the most part about the big world and raids afaik, while GW focuses on team PvP on arenas. I've only played each so much, but I found GW more entertaining even though I usually fancy WoW-like games, but WoW itself was just crap to me.

Ok, I have decided to download the WoW free trial and play on private servers for free and get Guild Wars so I can enjoy both :) Thanks for everyone's comments as that has really helped me decide.

Guild Wars.

Imo it has way better graphics, and keeps getting updates and expansions.

Played Guild Wars till about level 13, got bored, fast.

Played WoW up to level 40ish, forced myself to play till 70 for the simple reason I was paying
