Re: [PC] Hearthstone - open beta card game from blizzard
It's a joyous day. I came to my senses and uninstalled the game. I won't get back all the wasted hours but I hope this will keep me from spending even more time on it.
If there were some kind of a gain from the game, a social aspect or something then I could tolerate it but as it's been I've wasted several hours on it whenever I started playing just to realize at the end of the night that the day has passed and I have nothing to show for it. Instant gratification is short lived.
I think I'll play again when I have a tablet for it though but on the PC I'm too tempted to kind of have it always on by the side whatever I'm doing, which in reality means whatever I'm supposed to be doing comes by the side of the game.
Heh, longish post only to say I've had enough. I guess I just needed to put it out there in order to make it a commitment and also to convince myself this is exactly what I should do. :)

dam that sucks :(: you were the only one here that got 12 wins in arena too! The game for me is not addicting at all. I only waste 10-15 mins on it (sometimes 40 if I want to finish a 5 win quest). Hope you start playing again soon :D:
Ive been having fun with 1 mana cards with my rogue. The only problem is late game. 1 mana cards definitely cant compete against 5-6 mana cards late game. I just need to find a way to keep pressuring my opponent. I cant do that if they keep blowing up my minions. Recently have seen a lot of Ooze (the ones that destroy my wep). Really screws me over when I use Deadly Poison and hope I have the +3/+4 wep for the next turn.

Of course a 1 mana card can't compete with a 5 mana one. Do you find that in late game you tend to leave many mana points unused? There's your problem. Either you need more card draws or you need to adjust your mana curve (include some big guys too).
Re: [PC] Hearthstone - open beta card game from blizzard
I feel ya @Negata when I started playing this I was staying up until like 3am! Now I just play a game or two and close it down, I use it to break up periods of writing/blogging.
I would like to see the chat be less terrible!
Re: [PC] Hearthstone - open beta card game from blizzard
@exclamatio yeah it's been periodical for me. Some days I don't play at all, then I get an idea for a deck and and must try it. The next several hours fly by making adjustments to it until I scrap it and try something else or feel satisfied for a minute. Then I play a few more games on it and think to myself, ok so now what. It's not like I made any friends or got better at anything real during the process. Sure there's the innate fun in the game and a sense of accomplishment from having created a deck that works but maybe it's the complete lack of socializing that makes the feeling so empty afterwards. You may well be touching the core issue by mentioning the chat. I might aswell be playing against AI in a dark cave and feel no less like playing alone.
I did the same uninstallation with Clash of Clans when I finally realized after a couple of months how much it consumed my attention in small pieces throughout the day and can't say I missed it afterwards.
I'd like to say I'll keep playing a game every now and then maybe just to duel you guys but I'd be lying to myself if I thought I could keep it at that. So I can't touch it at all for now. :D

Playing aggressive to mid range Hunter is kinda difficult right now.
Playing Rogue is also difficult but quite fun when you have Leeroy
Re: [PC] Hearthstone - open beta card game from blizzard
Why play Leeroy at that point? You should have played hero power + freezing trap and keep Leeroy for lethal or for 9 mana with like starving buzzard and uth. If you can't get more out of Leeroy except for the 6 damage, assuming it's not lethal (or close enough, like finish with 1 hero power), he's just a bad trade, since he can always take him down with the 2 minions you gave him. Also since he had no minions on the board, getting a trap up, is just really OP.

On a side note, warlocks are fun. Just need to get use to its playstyle and not have any cards in my hand.

As you said use traps - on my case UTH was nerf so it was on 3 mana. On turn 6 Starving buzzard + UTH was a good combo. but it should be Starving Buzzard + UTH + Freezing trap.
I could won this game.
Re: [PC] Hearthstone - open beta card game from blizzard
Man Im doing really bad this season. Just played a game where I did the most epically stupid move, then the luck of the draw saved my ass.
- I have Argent commander with divine shield on the field an a +2 attack weapon. In my hand, I have S4-Agent, Preditions blade (+2 atk; +1/2 to anyone I choose) and blade flurry. (23 hp left)
- Its the Hunters turn (6 hp left) has that Lion (6/5;deathrattle 2/2 hyenas (2)). He summons that other hyena (2/2; powers up 2/1 for every beast that dies), 2 buzzards, and a timberwolf. He attacks my Argent commander (4/2) with his Lion. The Commander then dies by an arcane shot.
- Now I draw the healer dude (3/3: heals 3 hp). This is the most epic stupid move to do. I play the healer, play s4 agent and kill the Lion. His deathrattle summons 2 hyenas, causing the Hunter to gain 4 cards thank to the buzzard. Now Im like, w/e, that was just a minor mistake. I then do blade flurry :D: Boy, the hyena sure did grow; the spell killed everyone except for the hyena (which was 4/3 because of the killing of the Lion). Now, the hyena is 14/6. I was literally about to surrender, but I was like, I CAN DO ET!
- So he now has the hyena (14/6) and plays summon companion card. I was hoping it would be the taunt dude and guess what, its the taunt dude! (4/4). He then summons the houndmaster and boosts the taunt dude to (5/5) (seriously... why give a taunt minion another taunt). He places a trap and attacks me with his hyena. Now I have 12 hp
- So I was praying for a Eviscerate, but I got the Argus dude. I was like, meh, just summon him, since I know I lost. I summon him, give my healer and S4 Agent +1/1. His trap activates, snipes my argus to hell. Then, I used my Preditions Blade combo to do 2 damage to his taunt monster (6/6). I attacked with the healer dude and killed the taunt monster, which was (6/4 now; 4 + 2 = 6). I had seriously thought I lost (because I was sooo devistated by the shiz I did 2 moves ago), but then I realized I had +6 damage to kill the Hunter (+4 from S4 and +2 from my weapon). The throw was unsuccessful and I WINZ!
So yea... Doubt I will get to rank 11 this season. I was at rank 13, then went down to 14, but those Black Temple back covers look pretty sick! :D: Glad you only have to be above or rank 20 to get it, but also sad, since thats really easy to get (Should be like rank 15 or something to get the rewards).
tl;dr Lesson of the day: Read the dam cards on the board before planning your epic sweep of the board!
Re: [PC] Hearthstone - open beta card game from blizzard
I ended at rank 16... My deck started doing horribly against all the rampage druids, warriors, and warlocks. Not to mention the heals of paladins and priests (occasionally druids too). Shamans were not that annoying, but rogues would be when I didnt have something to destroy their auctioneer. My games rely heavily on eviscerate, since it gets rid of any 2 - 4 hp (+ the spell damage bonuses). The only problem is that I have only 2. Then you have rogue's aoe control. Blade flurry is epic when used with a +3 weapon, but it usually is a dead card when used with a +1 wep. Fan of knives is stupid as well. They need to lower the mana to 2 or make it do +2 damage. An aoe should be useful in removing the field, not give an extra affect (which is helpful but completing the task that an aoe card should do).

I have only just started getting into Hearthstone. I am in love with the Shaman at the moment as I love the Windfury effect and the flametonuge totem. Also love overload. Can get some great monsters out so early like the 2 taunt wolves and some really tough taunt monster I have. Don't have many cards though as I have only just started.

Shamans are really good once you get their rares. They are pretty weak w/o their overload cards. Their minion clearing is by far the best and the elementals are epic minions of destruction. I think this season Shamans are being played a lot; I bet its mainly for the up coming Naxx event/mode (that Shaman class card is really, REALLY op. It will get nerfed, but yea, its going to be annoying as hell to deal with).

I don't have many of the rare cards as I have only just started out but gathering some dust to craft some cards, any cards I should get first. I thought the overload cards were powerful because you can get out some real mean cards that are hard to get rid of but I am a nooby.
