Vastly better then all the beta pictures of the PC version of Halo 2.
At least they made good use of waiting so long on putting it on the PC.

Very nice, although it's a bit sad to see it for Vista only, yet another cheap ploy to make us buy Vista. I, myself, won't be getting Vista for a while...
Think I'll be sticking to my handy controller and slaughter PC fanboys with their claims of mouse and keyboard domination. (Unless of course I'm busy playing Halo 3)
and on the bad comparison picture, honestly where did they get that screen shot? I've never seen Halo 2 look that badly detailed on my original Xbox or 360. It always looked like this: http://image.com.com/gamespot/images...halo2_over.jpg
We dont know though if they used like a 8800 graphic card to do that and I would like to see what the system requirments are for it im still going to get it probally vista and halo 2 at the same time most vista bugs should be fixed by then, but we will never know till the time comes.
Nothing unexpected imo. You can get awesome parts for your PC to make everything run good and look sexy, you can't get awesome parts for your Xbox.

Halo 2 does look that bad on the XBox and on a resolution of 640x480 (NTSC). Though when using the 360 there has been some graphical patches and allows for HD resolutions. Hence why it don't look that bad on the 360.
In the US it comes out... When the shops open today. =P

EDIT: I've read somewhere that a dx10 patch for XP was made, or in the process of being made. Will this patch allow me to play Halo2?
It seems on gamestop for the US it dosent come out to the 31st but dont know where you got your info from.

The official release date is 31st. However Xbox Team and few others already got their hands on the game.
Being honest I don't see much difference in the graphics at all. Who ever bothers looking at a Warthogs tire anyways?. Since I play in HD, even Halo 2 appears to be somewhat close to Halo 3 (graphic wise).
Sadly its only for Vista, they should have made it so that it was XP compatible as well. Personally I think both Bungie and Microsoft are just aiming for money this time.
M$ is doing everything in their power to push Vista like a drug, using a very popular game seems like a logical choice with this strategy.
Not unless they also patch the Windows Live platform to XP. That's why it's Vista only. It requires Windows Live integration.

Haven't actually been to the stores this week so I don't know.
I'd beg to differ. Running it in 1080i makes it look good but compared to native 720p/1080i games the graphics are kind of washed out and not as clear.
Yeah. They want a reason to sell the PC counterpart to XBL. So what do they do? Release the former #1 XBL game onto the PC.

Most logical thing to be honest. They are marketing Vista as a gamer platform. Now they need exclusive games.
