They wouldn't, it's never smart to remove features, especially not those. Removing stuff gives you bad publicity.

alright fine, once the 60gig's have been "exhausted" from north america they will stop producing them, thus ending the discount. When the 80gig comes out (which is retarded why you'd buy one since you can change out the hard drive like it's nothing) they'll probably make that $600.
IGN: E3 2007: Confirmed -- PS3 Price Drop Temporary
PS3's not got much going for it at the moment,
Big titles;
Final Fantasy - Been going downhill since X
Resident Evil - On Xbox 360 too
Silent Hill - On Xbox
Metal Gear Solid 4 - Konami are "unhappy" with the Ps3 sales and believes the price cut will do nothing, is contemplating moving MGS away from a Sony-exclusive title.
Grand Theft Auto - Xbox 360
Medium Titles; (that I can think of)
Devil May Cry - The trailer isn't exactly amazing.
Zone Of The Enders - It was Ok but it's not exactly going to pull the sales back
Metal Gear is the only reason I would have bought a PS3, I don't need a media center, I've got a PC, I don't want a blue ray player (who uses blueray?). But now that I've seen Konami may be making it multi platform... I just hope they do
80gb model removed the backward compatibility -.- only 60gb model has that
Look you don't get their strategy, infact you are the proof why their strategy is smart.
People like yourself, which is the majority, thinks the PS3 is only temporarily cheaper, and thus many go and buy 1 now, because they're afraid that if they wait to long that they will have to wait ages before there is another price drop.
Now there is another side of the story, Sony knows they will sell a lot of PS3's now, but they also know that once the 500 dollar version is gone that those sales will end, infact they know it will sell worse then it did before, because then people will be used to the 500 dollar price, so what they will do is either offer a package (with games and all) for 600, or drop the price of the 80GB version.
That would be the smartest thing to do, and thus Sony will do it, now the sales have doubled i believe, and that will last for a few months, and then they will just make the 80GB more interesting so that one will sell good aswell.
You all do know that the new 80gb model does come with the game MotorStorm?
And that they are also going to releasing a 40gb model soon at the $400 price mark?
So that makes it:
$400 = 40gb model w/ no PS2/PS1 playback
$500 = 60gb w/ PS2/PS1 playback, WiFi, Memory Card Reader
$600 = 80gb w/ PS2/PS1 playback, WiFi, Memory Card Reader, Motor Storm game
Not bad offerings to be honest and they'll stay like that especially though the end of the year as the 40gb and 60gb models will sell very well once better games come out in the next few months.
NoPeace - out
Only have a 360 myself. I got it on the 25th of june but if they were selling the ps3 with 20Gb hard drive for say, $400, I would have bought it probably.
Sony is playing tricks on the fanboys; if they put a brick for sale at 200$ the fanboys will go buy it thinking its made out of gold.
ps3 are way too expensive xbox360 for me has a more money value for me anyway if you want advice i say get the play station three
