Yeah, thank fuck for that. The API was under really heavy load, hard to complete trades and transactions both.

I dunno, I never had any load problems and I was checking Steam every 4 hours or so.

The frontpage was manageable after the first 2 days, but I think Arcelor is referring to the API, which was indeed fucked up to say the least. But that was to be expected.

The first 30 minutes when sale started indeed it was fked up. So many ppl wanted to see what was on the sale and servers could not handle it.

Its only to be expected tbh. They improve stability every year but also blow up with users during the sale more and more every year. Steam is quite stable for the amount of users it has. Pretty sure every gamer who has access to internet comes across their site more than once during the summer sales to at least see the discounts.

As you said, it's to be expected and I don't mind if it takes me a few attempts before I can buy a game. If Valve wants a 99.9% uptime during sales they'd need hundreds of extra servers.
