I'd wait a few months after the initial release, so that all the reported bugs and such can be rolled out of the mix. (Anyone remember the AA issue, the error-proned laser which led to distortions when viewing DVD's, and/or the infamous and dreaded 'Disc Read Error'?)
If I were to preorder, I'd actually want the info from Sony to be set into stone, and not a tidbit of info from an interview which leads to speculations and hindered 'truth'.

2. A more stable version (most likely) of the PS3
3. Maybe a mod chip will come out by the time I buy it = even more money saved (on games)
