Sorry if you're mistaken but to make it clear, the sensor bar does not detect motion - it merely emits infrared so that the wii remote's cursor position can be obtained by triangulation (it has nothing to do with the motion sensing ie up, down, left, right, turning, etc).

The Wii (remote) controller is just the right size, like I said I have large hands and it fits fine. I admit at first when I opened my box last Friday that I thought it looked a bit small, but once it is in your hand you see and feel that it isn't :). Also it is great for multiplayer, you hardly need to be swinging the remote so that you whack someone in the head, just little, gentle movements will surfice.
Can we stick to the topic guys about the Wii controller please and not go off to a tangent, thank you!
