[Xbox360] Connecting to Xbox Live

Yeh, I need help Connecting to Xbox live for my 360. I recently got it fixed by Microsoft, and got a free monthly Gold membership for live.
I've;

• Unplugged my modem and turned the xbox off without a disc in the tray
• Switched the Ethernet Cable with the Xbox live cable, Put the other end into the Xbox Port.
• Turned on the Xbox
• Turned on the Modem
• Pressed the Xbox live banner
• Pressed Join Xbox live
• Bam, Can't Connect

Yeh, what do i do? When i test my connectivity it says the Network Adapter is Disconnected.
I looked around on google, asked the helper robot thing on the site, and it still doesn't work.
Any ideas?

I fixed the Network thing(plugged directly to the computer), Now it's the IP Address that fails.

you need to set the pc to share its internet connection highlight both connections then right click one and bridge it (so bloody long since i did this)

i think its unlikely he'd be using a router cannon since,
a. hes had to plug it into a computer
b. router would automatically provide an ip for the xbox 360 by way of being a dns server.

I guess so. It's just I had trouble setting up with my router, at first.

How do i tell if i has a router or not?
If it's outside of the computer, i have my desktop, harddrive, and my modem.

I had this problem way back in the first xbox,if your not using a router,you can only use xbox or pc for internet one at a time,atleast I think so.

What i do whenever my IP fails is I restart my modem, and unconnected the wire that delivers the internet connection, wait for your modem to re-connect, then turn on your xbox and try it. Hopefully this helps.
