Any differences between Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 when setting up MuServer?

Is there a difference between the two ?
If yes, what are they and which one is better to set up MU on ? is Windows server 2012 Datacenter Edition better than both ?

Also, do they support SQL 2000?

If you want mssql2000 then go for win2k3.

There is no difference for a muserver between R2 and simple version and datacenter edition is only for shared servers, you'll pay high bill for nothing.
