Bmd textures renames?

Hi, i hope someone can help me, i wanr example take some bmd model to make new items, only editing textures, but i should rename textures, then i need to know 3d sofware that read and allowed edit smd files, this way i can change texture names.

first u convert .BMD to .SMD with pentium tools
then u get texture files..
then u open .smd and it must say the image name .jpg or something
then u rename that name in .smd and the image file
and recomiple the .smd to .bmd

milkshape 3D mostly ppl use that
or 3ds max 2008/2009 is enough
but milkshape 3d for the start, try it.

i yesterday tried it, but dont work idk why, can you tell me correct step? where i should rename in group or material? both? how to export correcty after edition? thanks

u mean about the cape position? maybe u can center it on the milkshape or move it little higher, not sure exactly u have to experiment.
