[Help]Creating a server so only the computer server can use it

Hi!!

I know if i want to create a server in a computer connected to the internet by a router i have to foward some ports, but if the server is only to be used by the computer the is creating it? I mean: i want to create a server so that i can use it without having to concern my self about the server being available to other computers. This sould make the server configuration simpliest right? If yes can someone tell me the differences?

put everything in lan (127.0.0.1)
