Ok, i want to make my own server of mu for me and some friends. I have tried to make one before, and i did follow guides, I just got all turned around and confused i decided to delete everything and start over.

first i need some questions answered:
-Do i need a partition on my hard drive?
-If so can a second hard drive with nothing on it work?
-Do i need a program like SQL server or a database program?
-if so where can i get it?
-how do i install it and put mu on it?
-How do i make my own client files?
-How can i edit the def/damage of items/monsters? (please tell me i just change numbers in a .txt file)
-Is there a moron's guide to doing all of this (doesn't have to be with pictures) ^_^

Things i have:
-MUCoder's 1.02k+S3 and 1.02k_S3 files
-my PC: twin 8800GTX GFX cards+3.2GHz core2 duo processor+3GB of RAM.
-i do not need to make a website; there will only be 20 players and i will edit them in maually.
-i am using a modem and no router
-300GB, 75GB, and 32GB HDDs (i have windows XP on 300GB[no partitions].The other 2 can be erased at anytime, i have almost nothing on them.)
-Also i have no experience in programming ^_^

i have not completely explored these forums, i may find some answers for myself later

PS: if i get my server running i will let anyone that helped me join as a MM/GM/Super Admin or whatever you want ^_^

about partitions just change the letter one of your hdds to D: and all will be fine.
About client files, you don't need to make'em just configure the ip and port so they would lead to your server.

yeah.... you can't change the leter assigned to a devices, as far as i know i would have to reinstall XP to do that! (Not happening)
i know i need to change the IP and port, but i need to put a client on a disc so my members can log in.

i can tell you how to do it in a second.

Start > Control Panel > Adminstrative Tools > Computer Managment > Disc Managment, then right click or disc you want and choose option 'Change Disc's Letter'.

Maybe he got a "D" drive. But it is a backup harddisk, for windows renewal...

I had too and i couldnt use it.
