But what distinguishes X32 from X64 in terms of security? and consumption of resources?

    re: [Help] operating system

the xp x64 is a secured operating system [ this of course depends and on the anti-hacking apps you use ] and the system works and responses a lot better to any kind of applications. it's been two years now i only use x64. and as for the cosumption of resources, it uses nothing more than the x86 version.

    win x64 never disappointed me.

You have no manual how to configure a new Windows XP 64 for a server? to turn off everything that did not need to consume less Ram memory

why are you worry so much about the ram? and yes, i created my custom version of xp x64 in order to use less resources. even if it is full, i have 16 gb ram.

64bits windows is just ~200ms faster than a 32bits windows so is not noticeable for small business and you can get problems with some drivers(old) but with new one there is no problem, almost all have both support. Also if you want to address more than 4gb of physical memory you can use win2k8 server(the most stable OS before win7 made by MS) and it run really smooth for server apps or games, all you need is vista compatible drivers and a little time to disable unused services.(IDLE CPU&RAM Usage - 0% - 120mb RAM with 15 process)

PS:what i know the newer version of 64bits windows like vista or win7 have 32bits apps emulator which help you to eliminate incompatibility between these 2 wins

there were rumours that x64 had problems with various apps. something that is fake once only some apps can't work [ 1 to the 100 ]. and what if sygate can't work? there are better firewalls than this one.
