[Help] problems with the firewall

i've benn reasearching in the forum, ways to increase the server security.
everywhere says to "block the databases and sql" on the firewall, butt everytime i block the database i can't connect to the server, and everytime i block the sql my site doesn't work right...

so i'm a bit confused now :pinch:

(my firewall is a McAfee) those things only work with sygate??
