Hello,
I wonder if someone could tell me why my client freezes after I select the server to connect to, It sees the server just fine.
The serial of both Client and Server are the same.
a lot of reason why that happens
FIREWALL
ANTI VIRUS
OPEN PORTS
OS COMPATIBILITY ,,,
ETC. ETC. ETC.
I just switched server files, and I have no anti virus program, my ports are open (and firewall is set up) OS is fully compatible.
I am well aware of what could make it not work in the 'normal computer' area. I am asking this question whether there is something regarding mu server files and mu client files that is prohibiting the connection.
on a side note, other clients do work. just not with my server files..
Bumb..
Okay since nobody seems to know the answer, maybe someone can explain the following to me then.
How is it that people from outside my Local Area Network (LAN) - Thus the people who connect over the internet - CAN connect to my server? but I still can't connect, this just happenned from one moment to the other.
1) Correct ports are open on the server => Hence people can connect, therefore.
2) Firewall is set up correctly as well
3) Turning firewall of on both machines does not change anything
4) Tried connecting using both WAN and LAN IPs -> No difference
5) OS is compatible as other people have the same OS and can connect, plus I could connect before..
6) No difference by turning off anti virus or leaving it on (even removing it completely does not change anything).
What else is there that can cause me this problem, c'mon folks one of you out there must know the answer?
try this....
go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
then open HOST with notepad
put SERVER LAN IP then your GLOBAL IP
example:
server lan IP : 192.168.0.101
global IP : 111.111.111.111
Code:# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.0.101 111.111.111.111
I have that set up already as well, but still the game client freezes after sellecting the server to connect to...
I have tried the following combinations:
Server IP Server IP
Server IP Global IP
Note i'm not tring to run the game from the same machine either, just from computers within my network..
Would isntalling the MS loopback adapter help?

still no difference.. :S
u have made Loopback Adapter ?
I have made a loopback adapter, correct me if i'm wrong. But..
A loopback adapter is simply for within the same machine, as the name says. It loops back to the same machine, this would not change the fact that I can't connect on my other machines...
any other options out there?

- I have no problems pinging the machine from within the network
- I have no problems accessing files on the machine from within the network
- I can see the server selection screen, where you choose which server you'd like to connect to.
But straight after I click that the screen freezes and after a while I get the DC notice..
Is your Event server running? when you start up server?
Okay, so I fixed this problem..
It seems it was as simple as unplugging my router and modem for 5 minutes....
