I forgot how to do this exactly and I don't have SQL 2000 installed in my computer right now, but I will give it a try.



See that picture, if I recall correctly, when you right click what in your VPS would be some sort of "CBL-BSO (Windows NT)" there's either an proprieties option or something like that, within that menu, you will need to enable TCP/IP and Pipe connections to your SQL Service.
Also, during the installation of SQL 2000, you should've had used the Mixed Mode, and you should've set up a password for "sa".
