Running server with low ram!

Hello people i seen on forums people saying that someone runs server at 512 mb ram but i tryed on 1gb and game server would not startup! Cause of low ram! If you can share info that will be great!

increase the virtual memory but your server will lag as hell

What do you mean by virtual memory? I tryed on my vps one toutorial where you go proporties on my computer then advanced then proporties then advanced and you set initial size and maximum size and then it asks me to restart vps and then it does it but all setting drop away!

maybe your vps company don't allow custom settings,ask the support for help in this case.
