Setting Up MuOnline server on windows7

Yes if you want it as easy as possible start with the 97D + 99I versions, I started back then for 2 years ago and still got more to learn..

Its easy to setup a server, the hard part is to get it good and unique so it don't look like other servers, and then there are the advertisement!, damn you have to look and search and mabye pay a little to get your server very good and with many players. :)

But this is a help thread so here is the link to a 97D + 99I version that i think is the easiest one..

I had a server long time ago but back then i had a XP on my pc
now this new windows 7 is starting to piss me off. Since sql 2000 doesn't work on windows 7 i don't rylly know where to begin and what sql to use.

[Edit]-> I forgot to add that im using the 64Bit windows 7

use sql2005 (its working 100% on windows 7 64bit )

and for ODBC , you need to do it manually.... try this GUIDE

can someone really post a good guide, server files, client and patch... coz i already tried all the guide here... the latest is by oski, the only prblemis that i got dc when i choose the server, hope someone coud help me on this... i had a ran private server but i want to try mu now coz im playing it.....

i instaled the sql and everything but im still having problems when creating ODBCs.

whats the servername of your sql?

servername should be your PC NAME.. maybe you got pcname\sqlexpress

i have checked the names of the pc/SQL server and tryed them but with no resoult. I don't know what else can i try.

im using sql 2000 with czf season 4 custom server :D xD

the problem is u can't extract the files by doing the installation in windows 7 so i have to do it in another platform(xP). i copied all the setup files from my xp and then went back to windows 7 boom it works :D

my server been up for 3 straight days no problem at all :D



just ONE big thing i hate with hosting on windows 7.. xD when ur playing at GM mode.. u will certainly KICKED from the game just right after selecting your Gm character :P(some say its bout comptability issues dunno but maybe that's the cause :P)

Ok i did the same thing however i have nothing in server grups in my enterprise manager.

SQl 2000, is NOT compatible with the 64 bit version of windows 7 RC, just get SQL 2005 with the proper service pack or 2008.
