    sqlserv.exe high RAM consumption

Hi, im running 2 GameServers with RMST files connected to the same DB im using SQL 2005 Express SP3, Windows 2008 32bit, and the SQLSERV.EXE process, starts consuming 50 mb and after a while consumes 1.5 GB or more, it keeps raising until joinserver and other programs show the error of Insufficient RAM for executing Query. Is normal that SQL Server consumes so much ram? thanks.

    Re: sqlserv.exe high RAM consumption

My sqlserv.exe eat about 2.7GB in few hours after I restart the server which is pretty normal considering the size of database. The idea is that MSSQL keep the index of database and most used data in the RAM memory for a lot faster access. You can solve this in 2 ways, one of them involves a big disadvantage:
    • get more RAM memory on the server

    • set a maximum value

By setting a maximum value your database access will become a lot slower than before so ordering a new pack of RAM sounds better if you want no performance loss.

Here you have a screen shot on what you need to set

Remember that you need to restart the MSSQL services to see the effects of changes.
