    Login Screen - Noobish Question

Er, I wanted to change my login screen from the default kRO one to a custom one. Now I can't seem to find which folder to put the new login screen.

I tried to put it where the loading screens are. [\data\texture\

As you said, yes it will be your EXE/Client. All the problem is is that someone has used the function "enforce new login background" when they have diffed your client. You could try using this client http://www.sacredangelro.com/svn/kROsakexe0911aO.rar
And hex editing the name into the title again.

    Hope this helps!

Re: Login Screen - Noobish Question

Thanks for trying to help. ^^

Unfortunately, I already got another exe which has the same features as the one you gave me.

I thought my old exe is perfect cause I got the features I want.

    Enabled unlimited chats.
    Enabled Dual Client.
    New fontstyle.
    Enabled /w and /who.

But the only thing that's missing is that it won't allow me to put a different login screen.

Now luckily, I've found another exe. It allows me to change my login screen and also has the features enumerated above EXCEPT the new fontstyles!! Which are way too cool to ignore! Besides, the default font sucks! Small letter L and big letter I looks the same! That really is a big deal.

I hope you can help me find the exe I want guys, since it seems like diffing never worked for me. I tried to diff my own exe but none of the million diffed exe I've made ever worked.

But again, thanks for trying to help. I really appreciate it. ^^

The KRO one is the one that doesnt use custom login backgrounds and you can move the pictures around. Some clients include that. Just look around.

So, then one above was a no go??? Thats fine.
Tell me what features you would like, and i can diff you a client. Just tell me if you use a data folder or not, and what other diff features you need.

    Hey Mykel!

Try using this diffed exe - it should work! Give me a yell if somethings up. Just paste it into your rag folder, and open it, then login to your server :flag_schw

    http://www.roalf.net/downloads/LoadedRO.exe

Take a look at that client. That's what I'm using.

Well I don't need any fancy features. Here's what I do need:

    Unlimited chats.
    /w and /who
    Doesn't use data folder.
    Multiple Client.
    Multiple GRFs.
    Old Loading screen.
    New font.
    10x Zoom out.
and you could add more if you like.

I like the one I'm using now but the only problem is, it's using the default font which sucks big time!

Thanks in advance for the help. ^^

P.S. The one you made for mykeljnine isn't the one I wanted. I tried it but it's a no no.

Re: Login Screen - Noobish Question

I had a little trouble getting the EXE you said to work, so i simply diffed two clients for you. The first i made with the default Arial font. The second is using the custom font. Try them both out, and tell me how you go.

Still didn't give me the things I needed sorry... :(

Can you just give me the diff patchers you're using so I could try to diff the client myself. ^^

You do not need to do anything to the client.

Change the login screen(bgi_temp.bmp) picture to resolution to 1024x768.

Done that. Didn't work. Is the diff patch "Use New Login Screen" still reads the login screen from the bgi_temp or not?

That's just what I need to know. Which file is it reading. The login bg I'm seeing is not one of the files in my data folder (and in the custom GRF file I'm using).

Re: Login Screen - Noobish Question

Download a new client. Don't do anything to it and try it. It should work.

PS: If the data folder exist. The client will not read any GRF. Unless you rename the data folder to other names, the client will read the data folder.

If you are using GRF, remember to edit your data.ini too.

I've already downloaded a lot of clients to see which would work. The only problem is the FONT.

Wrong. The client can read both the data folder AND the GRFs as long as the GRFs are declared in the data.ini and in the grf-files in the server.

I already did all of that. I have no problem whatsoever running my server. The only problem is that I can't find a client which has both "Old Login Screen" and "Custom Font".

I tried diffing exes but I couldn't run those.

For the font, type /set1 in game to activate thin fonts.

Sorry mate. The client will ignore data.ini or any GRFs and read directly from the data folder if there is one.

LOL! I have a data folder and I use a custom GRF and the data. My client is reading them both. Even if I have a data folder in my client, it's not IGNORING the GRFs like what you're suggesting. Otherwise I couldn't run my server. But if you're sticking to what you believe in, I don't care. Everybody entitled to their own opinion.

I just hope people would just post and help if they can and simply don't post if they can't. I hate it when people are pointing others to things that wouldn't really help solve the problem but create more confusion. I suggest you to just don't post if can't answer the question.

Because for newbies like me, giving answers which don't actually help solve the problem is worse than ignoring my post.

The things you've said never came close to what I needed to do. You just complicated the situation. I hate to be rude but you've wasted my time doing things that wouldn't really help.

OK, whatever. Topic closed. Got my problem solved.
