If o0breakdanca0o helps out, il looks like we will be using SQL build which is good, because i wasnt liking the idea of running on txt too much :p plus i got software i bought which back's up mysql db's night and stuff :)

I can help if you need me to, I won't say I'm going to be a dedicated dev, but I can be around if you need. I've ran a very customized RO for 1 and a half years a while back before my ISP put bandwidth limit on my connection. I did everything in my server until near the last few months when someone came to help :) I can assist you in almost everything related to RO private server, but I have no idea how much it has changed since the last time I hosted it, so it may take me a bit to get back to it again. I'm always idling in the IRC channel, just spam my PM in IRC if you need me.

i have used TXT before, and made the switch to SQL and never gone back. i have been following the eAthena project for almost 2 years. i have been using the SQL server and i run a small closed of server for my friends on a windows 2k3 machine. eAthena there are many tools that have been developped for eAthena, control panels for users, admin commands that even the official servers dont have, and yes, custom maps (although their pretty hard and complicated to make).

enough ranting...so

- eAthena SQL is my recommendation
- is easy to manage once setup properly
- just as easy to add custom stuff (maps a little harder, but i've done it)
- not as ressource intensive as official server software
- special map converter (AFM maps) greatly reduces the size of map files on server and improves loading times *this feature is not often used by other servers*

that just my opinion though...

Have you thought about using Aegis. It is much more stable than eAthena, but uses more resources and less features. Aegis is also less customizable compared with the Athena branch.

Amazingly, even though i have been playing in RAGE servers for awhile. This is my first post in these forums, lol. :verysad: If you choose to work with Freya(eAthena sql), I have been toying with them for a few years now(since i was like 13... lol). I would be able to devote most of my after school time to deving or just helping out with the server(3-4 hours). English is the only language i speak at the moment, sorry if this is a problem. The reason I bring this up is that many of the private servers i have played on were international. As time runs short, I have some new anime to watch. :geek: I hope in the long run I can be of some help to the people here at RaGEZONE. :mrgreen:

I was currently hosting and owning a server called Toast Ragnarok Online.

In a matter of days we had about 50 people online but since my computer isn't that stable i had to shut it down......

I can help with NPCs Scripts Items Mobs Custom items Custom maps and whatnot.... if you need it anyways
