This guy got my respect. He is working on a server emulator. I did not test it so far, but he is on a good way to the first private server of FFXIV:ARR.
What do you thing, will this start a FFXIV:ARR dev scene, perhaps? For sure he will not give the source away until he drops the project. I would play on his server when he does not drop it and finish it. What about you? Do you even see potential here?Originally Posted by JPD002

I'd be surprised if this happened. He created this not to save $10/mo, but because he didn't like the current state of the game, which is ARR. That's the driving cause of a lot of server emulators. $10/mo is a drop in the hat compared to the thousands of hours it takes to create a real playable server emulator.
still making a server emu just because of " cost " is not always the case, making one because you " Can " is always a good thing too.. don't presume he can't afford the $10 he prolly can other wise he could not reverse engineer the client to server etc etc
