Really old topics. If you compile this source recently this is my experience.
I have compiled sources with Visual Studio 2008. If you read trunk/Document/A2 Server Document.docx, it documents about development environment in korean.
Development OS: Windows 2008 64 bit, Windows 7 64 bit
Tool: Visual Studio 2008 Professional SP1
SQL: MS-SQL 2008
Library & SDK
DiceLib: Dice engine's dll converted to static lib
PathEngine: not used
DirectX SDK (March 2009): You must specify directory in the VC2008 solution option, Version is important (seems included in trunk/Library/DX)
Microsoft Windows SDK v6.1 (not 6.0a included in VC2008): also must specify folder directory (I have used 7.1 -> seems ok)
If you use 6.0a you get shobjidl.h: error C2504: 'ICommDlgBrowser2' etc etc..
This error comes because your working OS version is now more higher than 2008 or 7.
SQL server SDK 90: seems included in the Library/Sql (but must specify folder directory, some sln missing this directory reference)
To avoid direct input error you must put DirectX SDK directory before Windows SDK directory (in case of platform sdk 7.1)
Set path in the VS2008 menu Tool->Options->Projects and Solutions->VC++ Directories
select platform (server is compiled for platform x64, client is for x32) and set include and lib directories.
then nearly all source compiles ok.
But some original source seems migrated from vs 2005, so some migration error seems exist.
Targeted server and client platform configuration is different, so some configuration may not work (compiling server for platform x32 etc)
I have to rewrite TableGenerator.cpp because template <typename T> with all numeric T and CBwString comflicts each other in _tstoi conversion, and there was a miss typing like CBwString to CbwString.

I haven't tested server yet because I do not want to contaminate my original database system. So I have to build windows VM server and that is not my current priority. I just compiled and confirmed binaries just dies or crash if any setting is mistaken without warning. no error message routines, no error case bypassing routines. debug version has more error messages.
Most strange characters in the messages are not chinese. It's korean.

It's the NA client (I played in Willowfire), I don't know if is the same as EU client, and I don't know if this executable works for the purpose. I only want this game come to life again. If this works, please let me know and I'll find a way to share it.
