You might use wrong/not compatible .bins files in your client.

Try use thorpatcher. find some tutorial on that. I do not know how to use the original patcher. (i dont think we can use it unless we have the source)

I think ur prob can connect to database engine bcoz u dun have them, u need to install sql server service pack 3, this will solve ur prob for cant connect.
