    World of Warplanes

    Background
Set in the period from World War II to Vietnam War (1961-1973), the game provides American, German and Russian warplanes for selection, including single-engine light fighter planes, powerful twin-engine warplanes and lethal ground attack aircrafts. Moreover, some planes that have never been used in actual battles will also be added into the game.

    Controls
In World of Warplanes, except a pilot, no machine gunner or bombardier is required in a warplane. Abandoning the traditional perspective in flight games, World of Warplanes allows players to freely switch between the first and third perspective and look around from the warplane tail.

Aside from keyboard and mouse, players can also use joysticks and rocking levers in the game. What's more, a signpost system and auto-driving system are integrated so as to help players get familiar with the game more quickly

    Settings
Similar to World of Tanks, World of Warplanes offers every player a garage and each plane is equipped with a paramedic. By means of earning Exp and Gold in combat, players can research and purchase advanced ammunitions, engines and new planes, and upgrade paramedics.

According to the development team, no campaign quests or pilot career mode has been designed, but the guild level system in World of Tanks is likely to be applied to World of Warplanes.

    Modes
In World of Warplanes, every map covers 15 square kilometers on average and game rooms are adopted like in World of Tanks.
Currently, the game supports 15 vs. 15 combats at most, so no large-scale battles will be available in the game. Apart from in aerial combats, players are required to cooperate with one another to occupy, destroy or defend strongholds, escort others, etc. In addition to planes controlled by players, some ground and aerial AI units will show up in the game.

    Game Status
Its CBT is scheduled to kick off in September: World of Warplanes to Enter CBT in September - MMORPG News - MMOsite.com

Same here, I liked World of Tanks and spent quite a bit on their cash shop (it was fun), but I just don't have time to play it now. I hope to play it some more later on though.

As for Warplanes, I remember playing the old Red Baron II game on PC and it was a ton of fun. Nowadays though, I think I'd rather play modern aircraft like Tom Clancy's Hawx. I'd love to see a modern age version of WoT as well, but I don't think they'll go that route.

If you are looking forward to World of Warplanes, be on the lookout for the World of Battleships as well! I'm sure someone will make another announcment post when that arrives, but if you haven't heard of it, check it out.

Wargaming will truly have an awesome collection of games soon.
