    [C++] Text based MapleStory and Doom

    Here are a couple of games that i made myself using c++, these are very small games; my first c++ games but are getting more complex as i am able to add to them.

    Here is my very first game called "Text Doom", it's a small game based on the game/comic book Doom where you are playing as an unknown character on mars after the demons had been released causing everyone to turn; choose your paths carefully as if you choose unwisely you will die.

    This is a game that i worked on for a few weeks, it's a small simulator where you can kill monsters to gain experience and level up to gain more attack to kill higher level monsters; this version has a few problems but not many such as there is no save/load system.
    This also comes with a text file which you can modify the values which increase your stats such as the damage/health/experience and so on as you level.
    Although the monsters don't drop weapons yet and you can only buy power elixirs from the shop; but this is a good start to a game but it's not something you could get addicted to.

    I have not continued on Text Doom yet since the game doesn't interest me and it's kind of hard work finding out what i should make happen next to keep the game going.

    I downloaded the Maple one and to start off with i was like wtf?!?! i had no idea what it was to be honest i didnt even think of it as a game? maybe next time have graphics instead of text? a simple shockwave game would be good.

    Simply saying "graphics instead of text" is a huge step for programmers in C++. Its not drag and drop like VB.

    Makings games in the console is quite learnfull, good job :)

    As Daevius said. I would try and add graphics if i could find some good video tutorials that don't have the voice of a speech to text machine.
    The idea of these games was that they are Text Based. They arn't meant to have any graphics so they are just based on text where it's just punching in a character to do the next mvoe rather than using a mouse. Text Maplestory isn't that great as all you do is just run over the same text over and over again, but it's really only in alpha and could expand but for all i know it's a dead project. Text Doom is more of an interesting game as you have Levels and different actions that you can do.

    These do suck if you are just a normal gamer instead of a coder which means that you don't look at games by what they have rather than what the gameplay is.

    Ohh whoops i guess i lost the concept of the whole thing i didnt bother to read 'texted based' i know C++ is hard do over all they are pretty good. [quicksilver4647 my new account Rip-Curl ;]]

    At the end of the game your basically swarmed with zombies and imps and you die. No matter what. Thats because i added onto it but i havn't really done much.

    Maple was very good coded but not nice design, try to make it more maplestory-like

    It's quite hard to keep it similar to maple story when all i can really do is change the font colour.

    This isn't that bad. I love it. =D

    It isn't so easy making it exactly like Maple Story though, but it looks like this is as close as it gets. Nice work.

    I made myself hit like 10k every time :P And i got like 7k hp. Just change it in the note file

    Maybe think about encrypting the file so people cannot change it as easy? Still its a very nice game :D
