    Nice name. Theme's a bit default; maybe you should spice it up?

    Good luck.

    Re: [C#] Xema, a chat system.

    I actually coded a chat system in vc++ just to learn how sockets work, passing packets back and forth, and mainly just to learn C++. I thought about using an sql database to hold my information but in reality no one is going to probably use it (Since there are ones such as AOL, MSN, yahoo, etc..) so I went with text based information storage mainly because if mine is ever used, it'll probably be used between a couple of friends so it doesn't require me having to use one of the ones stated above. EX:
    Code:
    username=Test3
    password=test
    display_name=Blist
    first_name=test
    last_name=test
    rank_level=0
    My suggestion begin with writing a username and password into the source itself that it can compare to before trying to attempt to move to sql. Then from there, handle multiple clients, then move on to things such as private messaging. I still tinker with mine at times, Added in display names, pming, etc. I'll include a screen shot so you can see how the display name works, etc. If you have any questions about any of it, you can pm me. I'm not a guru with c++ nor do I know C# but I'll explain to the best of my knowledge. I plan to expand it non the less to continue learning the small things that I may never use again or mainly just to see if I can do it.

    I've seen to many of these...

    You guys need to use a bit of your imagination and get something worth a thread on the showcase...

    Did I open a thread? I simply said I used it as a learning experience. And if he needed help I would help him. So could you use your eyes and read the entire thread before making yourself look ignorant? It's obvious there are a lot of messengers out. Everyone above you stated that including myself. But in reality it was a good learning experience for me, and if he hangs with it. It'll probably help him learn as well.
