    MyRZ

Yesterday i got a idea about making a RZ client.. so i opened my coding language (VB2008) and started coding.

I don't know what you think about this.. but i think its nice, and easy for people to browse Ragezone...

    you can see screenshot:

    Img:

Also if you want a security scan i can provide if you think this is a nice program. Im a loyal user, i would not been here right now if i were joking :). i have created many things before for RZ.

    Edit: here is scan: http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/9...3c4-1243590440

    and here is download:

    Download

hehe. but back on topic, what you think about it?

    Looks pretty amazing.
    Very simple though.
You took advantage of what RaGEZONE already had, and displayed it in a different way.

Oh. Too bad I'm the only one thinking it's bulls***.
Three windows, three web browser components. What else it has?

"so i opened my coding language (VB2008)" - can someone shoot me?

Good point. If he is a starter than it's good I guess. I mean people start with these things. But really, eminem, when you will be programming for like 5 years+, if you will you will look back and think of this program same as I do.

HotelUnderSeige, if IE runs in Wine and it is pre-installed there I guess this will run in Wine aswell. But as I remember there is no IE pre-installed in Wine, only Notepad. :)

To be honest, I'm not a fan of people using the IE browser, saying they made a whole new app. There's really a lot more useful stuff you could do with this. But it's a begin ;)

Umh i been thinking about it, well this is pure bullshit.. sorry.

and the worst is that im not a new coder..

i would say the best with this app was the Firstrun thing :P

    because of settings etc

Maybe it's the language you choose to work in..

Hm.. VB is annoying in itself, imo. Or me and VB don't get along too well, I'd rather use C# when visual programming is the concern..

VB can be powerful, no doubt, but its' language is just weird to me. Weird comment styles, weird automatic methods, weird names, weird everything.

It seems like it tries to turn every little thing into a big ass OOP project running in the back end.

To me, it's purpose is to use big complicated back-end methods (developer-friendly), to make small pieces of software easier to build & maintain. The downfall, of course, is disgusting load time & performance.

The end result is always either very simple, or redundant. In fact, no matter what it turns out to be redundant because of all that crap in the back-end that goes on when you click & drag or change a few settings.. You can make lemonade if, and only if, you make large scale projects. If you do that a good portion of the framework, it will use minimal usage because of the framework. Obviously, smaller projects don't do so well :) Nor do they need a big ass framework.

I'm starting to feel similarly about C# as well, but it is more flexible. I learn more about C# every once in a while. I still dislike both of those languages, but if you want to work visually, I know C# is best for ya.

So far the only visual language I like is Flash with ActonScript. It's not at all useful for low-end programming like VB & C#, but it works great for what I work with.... at times.

I like the way it's built, I like the way it responds to scripts, and I love the way it performs & can be optimized to perform. Unfortunately, I'm not skilled enough in the visual programming sector to work with those foreign languages (VB+C#)

Now if it was easier for me to add little loops & arrays instead of copy & pasting a bunch of crap code with names I have no control over... Well I'm sure there's a way but I don't know half a shit about programming in those languages and frankly, I hate learning them because it doesn't make sense to me.

Most people on this forum actually respect C# programmers.. well some people. While VB is usually frowned upon.

Maybe consider using that language, it seems to be better in allot of areas.

It's also good to know because SilverLight runs under C#. I think SilverLight sucks as well, but I do have respect for SilverLight + C# developers. In fact, allot of people on this forum love SilverLight.

So C# is sort of.. I hate to say it, the future. Even though performance issues come up, all of that's going to go away because the demand for better RAM is starting to kick in. That means the people don't care if the software's crap about performance & load-time, they only care that their computer is going slow. RAM fixes that, so they get more of it. They don't know of the automatic redundancies that take place during development. Maybe they should, but mostly everyone today is so dull-headed they probably won't get it anyway. They'd rather pack their computer with shit and get more storage & speed to pack it with even more shit for their personal convenience. Now the smart ones are very smart today. We live in a very strange world IMO.

So use C#, join the future. It's better then VB.. That's about it.

Sorry I had to rant on visual languages, but they're taking the RAM away from progRAMming

That's why building a web browser turned into a cheap trick instead of advanced programming. That's why everything needs to be complicated in a visual language - because otherwise, it does nothing and STILL takes forever to load. All of the framework is still there, still being loaded, just not being used. Never make a simple app in VB, nothing good will come of it.. (Except a piece of a learning experience)

Now in C++ it would be quite impressive, and an enormous learning experience

Not likely to respect, but to think about them more as a programmers, not "Hello World" guys. And it's not in RaGEZONE, it's everywhere like that.

In matter of fact I've heard that even in some job interviews if you will say that you like VB very much you might not get the job just because of that because the programmers there decide who get's it. No bullshit on this one. Of course most likely it will not be like that. Many people (programmers) just think of VB as Microsoft Word. For instance if you say that "I know VB very well" it's same as you would said "I know Microsoft Office very well". Now what programmers gives a crap about your Microsoft Office knowledge?
But that's what I've heard, nothing from my experience.

Personally I think that everyone should program on whatever language he wants as long as it is in hobby level. I mean if you will go and work on new Crytek engine nobody will ask you what programming language to choose. They will just say C++, DirectX, go! (I think it's C++ ). But if you are programming for your friends, for yourself, for us, ragezoners it's fine to use whatever language you are comfortable with. We here don't want to humiliate eachoter, just help. (At least in this section I hope)

    Re: MyRZ

Yeah this program is basically pointless... It's just a web browser...
    Settings isn't hard..

    On form load:
    If My.Settings.Remember = true Then

    Else
form1.show() - I'm not sure if thats hopw u do it. I haven't used vb in a year or so.
    End If

    EZPZ...

I'd rather use C# aswell for this. OR Delphi.

C++ is more for kernel usage or pc required editing.
