    [PHP] D*Kos[dot]com

Hello everyone, just wanted some feedback on the site i just *finished*

    D*Kos

Basically just a URL shortening site, but test it out.

Features i can think of right now:

    • No duplicate entries (On submit, checks database and gives existing link)

    • Updated redirection page (Gives the URL it will open to, 30 second delay so time to cancel, or click the link to go instantly - Better for link clickers than directly opening with no warning of what it is)

    Will be adding shortly:

    • Last 10 submitted links
    • Statistics page (Overall page views, specific page views, uniques etc)
    • Any other idea's people suggest that i am capable of creating.

Note *finished* does not actually mean complete, simply at a stage where it can be shown to the public.

Can you give feedback on the layout, choice of colours etc also.

    Thanks
    Luke

Hmm nice! :D But I think not much people will use it because it gives the user a domain of http://dykos.com/(number here) So thats basically it.....Im not saying its bad or anything it just needs like better domains? Like www.dot.tk theyre domains are www.(webhere).tk kk

A site that creates TLDs for links.
    Great idea!
    </sarcasm>

Anyways, pretty good, but needs some CSS tweakage.

It isn't made to give them a domain, but simply a redirection with a shorter URL...

I think the easiest way to explain would be to view the about page or try this link

    Nice one.

You might want to change the 30 seconds to wait if you use the link, instead I would suggest a bar on top of your browser (a frame), with the website beneath.

I considered that, but not sure if thats "safe"

This way, a user see's the link they going to prior to the redirect and gives them a "abort" time to stop the process.

We all know some sites can be harmful just by viewing, was trying to protect the users.

If the page was displayed within a frame, would that not be the same as opening the page itself in that respect?

It needs a new design. That's what it needs. and you have 5 XHTML errors that are human eye visible to me.

( i can do a design for you btw for free )

I'll disagree with you on this one, it's a simple site, made to do a simple thing, so why try and complex the looks?

Also, site is now valid xhtml 1.0 transitonal (link)
