    [VB6] Lite Desktop (virtual desktop)

    Hi,

I've been developing a small program called Lite Desktop. It's just a virtual desktop, but it has quite a few features.

    Features
    - Login screen with password checker
    - Main screen (desktop)
    - First-time setup with password strength meter
    - Web browser with features
    - Web-page downloader
    - Notepad-like editor (nPad)
    - Password changer
    - Calculator
    - Adding YOUR OWN app into Lite Desktop
    - Use a custom display pic
    - Finds your computer username
    + MORE!

    Size: under 7 MB
    Programming language: VB6
Closed source; but I might release the source someday

I just made this because I was bored, it took me a few days to make (that's because I don't stay on my computer 24/7 like most of you)

90% of this has been started from scratch. I just included some codes from various VB websites.

I've scanned it with McAfee (latest, up-to-date version) and it's clean.

Tell me what you think, and report bugs. :)

So you are sure that you have not written malicious code by inattention?

Btw I have no opinion on the program, I don't need something like that, I'm just reacting to your post, nothing personal.

I don't really know, but I just made it for fun.

I was thinking of releasing the source, so people can make their own using mine as a base. Ya know what I mean....

A desktop made in vB6... Um.. I'm with Merlin; What's the use of this?

You can't make a GUI operating system. You most certainly cannot make it in VB6. You basically made a parody of Windows. You should work on learning how to customize windows themes and such. Or improving existing operating systems rather then creating a desktop on a desktop compatible for another desktop on top of that. It's like, really redundant. I guess it's a cool thing to work on your VB6 skills.. Though you might be better off converting them to C# skills sooner than later. I say C# only because it's more similar to the VB language since it's visual, and is probably easier to work with for a VB developer rather then C++. Mind you, C++ would be ideal to know after that.

The same thing in C# most-likely wouldn't be any better. It's just more likely you'll get to use your skills professionally if they're in a more, respected language.

Lol, when you minimize a window inside the browser, it gets a runtime error and then closes. It's annoying waiting for a loadup time.. And if it closes you have to wait and open it again and wait. And notepad doesn't work. There is really no point to this, I'm sorry to say. It's poorly made, and all computers have a built in calculator, web browser, and all webbrowsers have the ability to download a html file directly from the browser. If I were to attempt to make something like this, I would make a full screen GUI based desktop.
