ROM servers can work between diff machines, so yep, theorically it's possible.
Diff content on diff servers, also, possible db/configs leaks etc.
It can be nice, but there are one big problem: there are too low amount of big private servers.
ROM4U and arcadia, that's all servers with online > 100(not sure, how is it now). I'm almost sure, that them wouldn't accept this idea.
From more or less advertiesed servers I know only DarkRom and morfan, which have smth like 30 ppl(at least, 1st one).
Is it any relatively big server - I have no idea.
You can just propose for all, who have their own test server, organize BigFuckingGMPVP)
And if you can get Siege Wars working on your server explain how to did it. Cause for me i can not get it working.
You would need to make 2 diff servers(in RAController, not on 2 machines, ofc.) and connect them to same gateway.
Didn't remember full process, but it's point to start.
I am running a second server as test on another physical machine.
But.. use everything from service from the first machine, also the database ofc.
I have to test this still, but i guess i need to connect everything to the master server for login, then select your server
In the end it would need his own database.
It would be awesome though if both servers can use the same AH :-)
I mean, that you can run on 2 machines, but it's not necessarily.
As for ah - you can use it, if would share db.
Ive not tried using two PCs running two Server and Sharing one Database. I have use 2+ PCs to run Zone Servers.
How would global.ini be written if SQL was on 192.168.1.100 or computer named SQLPC
If on the same machine I use (local)\SQLEXPRESS
I tried SQLPC\SQLEXPRESS and Datacenter and PlayerCenter wont start, doesn't even pass username or password, but I do get a ROM_World and ROM_GlobalDB Successful for Read/Write Test
To connect to db on name, you should have a internal dns server i guess.
and connect to the database server through dns, i never tried to connect on ip with global.ini though.
Maybe you can try 192.168.1.100\sqlexpress
I am installing my second server now, but i might change everything to vmware and put multiple servers in virtual servers.
