! Ace Online (Air Rivals) Private server setup

    Hello guys,

I am new here but I loved Air Rivals. I want to setup a private server for LAN only or even external (let say I am not at home and I wanna play a little bit). I would need some help so that's why I opened this thread.

For the moment I followed the guide posted by War0nline. If anyone can post some tips and tricks please do so. And if someone wants to land a hand via Team Viewer please don't be shy and post here or send me a PM.

    Development steps:
    - I am using a Windows XP virtual machine (2 GB RAM, dual cpu, 60 GB of space).
    - I tried on my host OS (W7 x64) but I ran into some issues and I will need to reinstall my OS. I choose the virtual machine because if anything happens to my OS or PC my server will remain intact. Also I believe the performance will be ok, considerring that will be only 1 player on this server.

    That's it for the moment.

Obviously you failed the sql configuration, i have posted a guide in tutorials, go check it. Your virtual machine doesnt sound too strong btw, host OS should be better imo. If the server is just for you, you wont get hacked by anyone since there will be restricted access anyway. Imo you should make 2 partitions in your pc, 1 for server and one for other uses. So you still dont need to reinstall whatever happens (unless you do something ridiculously stupid). Running server + client at same time in same pc isnt a good idea so you wont need to have the server up while youre in the second partition.

I found out your thread, I will give it a try this evening (I have to go to work in 15 minutes). I would still very much appreciate your help if you would want to connect remote to my server. Thanks.

I see that a lot of people managed to make their servers to go the support for the new people that is trying to do the same is very small. To bad for this community.

In fact if you read everything this forum contains you should have no problems. Most people who managed to set up their servers did it on their own after all, you just have to experiment a bit. As for connecting remotely, you have to understand that some peoples time is important and i dont believe "it wont take long". There are 2 things you can do: check the logs and see where you get the error, to find to which ip/port the server tries to connect with which user and password. When you find this info in the logs, then go confirm that you followed my guide to word, for said ip/port/user/pass.

PS: you are posting in the wrong section btw. And you didnt even use a [Help] tag.

I recreated the ODBCs making sure that are made with atum callweb. I connected with SQL Server Management Studio with SQL Server Authentication with user atum and password callweb. All good, but I receive the same error in the logs. The ODBCs are made with IP 192.168.30 my internal IP. in SQL Server management Console I have the same IP. A little help here please.

LE: I re-created the ODBC now with 127.0.0.1. All good but I have the same error.

Let me put this into simple words for you, since you fail to grasp this.
    1. Wrong section (Already mentioned)
    2. Your lack of common sense and intellect is hindering your progress.

If you actually paid the slightest attention to what they said and just made your rusty gears turn a tad, you'd notice that if you use the 3.3 files, they no longer use ODBC to connect, instead they are connecting over an IP address, as stated many times in relevant guides.

Even after the aforementioned individuals went out of their way to help you with something so trivial, you still fail to grasp it.

To sum it up: Look at your configuration files, check the logs. It's all in English, so there is no reason for you not to understand and solve said problems with a tiny bit of intellect and common sense.

If you still fail at bringing up your server, simply quit while you're ahead. People of your caliber do not need to soil the internet with their mindless and senseless crap.

    Have a nice day.
