than make an ftp server and dont forget to change settings in global.cfg and create folder's at your ftp server.
Can't help laughing. Seriously, I am bored enough to tell you the most useful advice: experiment. And you do not need a ftp/http server if the versions match, this is obvious. I bet you have messed something in global.cfg, such us the minimum reinstall version. Just read the tutorials. Or have a look at the config files I released a few years ago (must read thread for ep3), I think they were properly configured so that the game would start.
Pre Server Trys to connect with soemthing

@Mightbe: Open your versionlist.ver located in your update files and add all the update files into versionlist.ver
Server will auto update the versions.cfg file (located in the config folder) when you start the Pre Server.Quote:

Yeah but the Pre Server want an http update!
To be honest, I have not tried to run ep3.5 specifically without a webserver, but I have certainly done that with ep3.2 and ep3.3. I see no reason why it should not work, if you set up the versions files properly of course.
At worst case scenario, assuming you can't get it to work no matter what, just use some public patch server. AO patch servers would be perfect. You guys don't have ideas at all.
ep3.5 pre server check versioninfo between config and web(ftp) server.
Yes... but not an ftp, he wants a http server
That is actually true.
I was figuring around 2 days with the auto updating system of the ep3.5 pre server.
once the directory's went terrible (like autoupdate/launcher.atm/lnversion.ver) and I was like, dafuq?!?
Then I tried to change the paths and the pre server kept resetting the version to some shit like 0.0.256.0 all the time.
After trying out a http server, all those problems were gone.
I can only advise you to use http for the 3.5 server, as ftp causes many problems. It“s too easy to setup a http server. You can do that via XAMPP or via the latest release from apache group. It really is so easy and much safer....
