Ahh i know the problem, it's caused by Windows 8....with one old aceonline.atm i could play fine on my win8 notebook, but now with my selfcompiled aceonline.atm i get this blackscreen too
i think there are missing directx files

direct x net farme worck and so may u can find in windows 8 make update at ur driver and u wil not have this isue

A friend told me some months ago to download the dx9 sdk, in his case it worked

Update: Installed all recet WIndows Updates, it's working now in my Notebook, try this maybe it will fix it^^
