sad [help]Help with editing .x meshes, animations, effects etc.

Hello. I was wondering how to create my own map, armor or even a gear. Can anyone tell me how to make this? And can anyone help me to convert .x meshes, animations stuff to .3ds;.obj etc. I read that it must be DirectX format. It can work on 3D Model Viewer, but on other programs it don't. Please help.

I think there are some utilities that do this convertion, tho dont take my word for it. However, even if you make new 3d objects, you can only change whats in .obj or .eff files. Editing maps is something that needs way more work, and i suppose you will never be able to do it. The fact is, the only guys i know that can edit the mesh of a map in a working way are masang and me, and i think none will tell you how to do it. Dont take it personally, i simply cant release the result of my own work just like that. Im just giving the info so that someone might get motivated and do some actual work (reeeeaaaally unlikely).

PS: this isnt the right forum, here are tuts.

Yes i know xD. Sorry. But why you don't share your work? And can you please send me a convertor for that format please. I can't find it anywhere. And how do you optain the server files? Do they are home made xD. For the DB's i know they are home made, but the server files are they home made? And have you managed to uncomply the aceonline.atm? I really want to recode the render engine. IT'S HORIBLE. The shaders are textures xD.And no ANTILiasing. But i will be really happy if you send me a converter. And what the hell are supposed to be the files like omi.tex. I managed to open them with Res-X editor and i find textures for example the UI in .tga or.png format. One of the 2 formats isn't supported from the Res-X editor.I think it was .png, but i hear that there are not just textures in them. There is some special data like in the omi.tex.I was talking for the files in the Res-Tex. Can you explain me these stuff please. And please a converter xD.

To create maps you would be required to use a program such as Beast (named appropriately because it's huge) For creating armor and gear and the likes you'd need a program such as Blender or any other 3D modeling programs. As far as converting meshes and animations go I am still trying to find help with that myself.

Re: [help]Help with editing .x meshes, animations, effects etc.

THIS IS TO EVERYONE EXPECTING ME TO SIMPLY HAND OUT MY WORK, CAUSE SHARING =/= LEECHING AND GIVING STUFF AWAY:

Sharing requires that not only one guy gives stuff, but everyone, so that it is faster to make progress. However i dont know anyone capable of making real work (apart from those guys that already have private servers up and dont have any reason to really share). ALL the programs i use were written by me myself, noone has released something really useful so far. Take for example the spawns editor i released. Has anyone shared something in return? At least some smas with custom spawns, as i requested? So even if i gave you a full toolset to make your own maps and add them in game would that be of any point, since noone would share their work? I dont think so. So, im just telling you whats possible to do, and if you want find a way to do it. In addition, i have to say that if you arent able to do some easy work like finding a files format and reading it do you expect me to think you can do something to contribute?

I could recruit and give work for 50 guys if anyone wanted to help. For example you mentioned the graphics. I know where the precompiled shaders are (written in hlsl, idk if you know what a shader is or what hlsl means). But theres noone with some knowledge about graphics and i cant obviously know everything. Nor do i know anyone really good at disassembling (im good but not good enough for me). It seems like you know nothing about programming/graphics/networks etc... Not to mention that youre just trying to focus on new content (like masang) instead of improving the game itself, which is the difficult part. My ultimate goal is to improve the game, not add 1000 new armors/weapons/skills/maps.

Sorry for being harsh but i have to. Try to think what youd do if you were me. I have already released stuff, now im waiting for a response.

PS: This "you" is in plural if you didnt get it and im too busy with exams anyway. Ancient greek atm so yeah...

Re: [help]Help with editing .x meshes, animations, effects etc.

Look i know how to code, i know some sort of graphics and for networks i don't.I really want to make the game better. I don't want to add 1000000000 stupid stuff in it. I want to make the game better. This is my plan. For that i must learn some other stuff, but really how do you uncomply the game? I know dissassebler stuff, but they don't give me the actual code. I know it's not possible to aquare the real source code. But there are uncomplyiers in the new that i don't know how they work, because they are console app's and no instructions with them. I am 100% sure that i am not so advanced like you. Example if you are a pro, then i am an average nOOb in codding.I know what i must know for game developing, i know how a game works. For networking i don't know anything. Really. Can you tell me everything what you know. Example C++, Windows Programming with the Windows API, DirectX API Programming.......

Re: [help]Help with editing .x meshes, animations, effects etc.

"Telling you what i know" would take years lol. Its not that simple. You need experience, so start with something of your capabilities and then move on. Imo a good practice would be reading the games files as hex trying to learn what each file is and its format. If you manage to do this, then you might be able to do something more.

As for assembly, just try to read the it first. The output of those programs that "decompile" is by far harder to read than the actual assembly imo, cause they are assembly written in c-style, youll be seeing jumps all over the program instead of loops or ifs for example and in addition code is lost during the process of decompilation. But anyway, thats just my opinion.

If you want to do something useful about the graphics, on the other hand, you dont have to edit the assembly that much. Take a look at the gb.obj, gx.obj and gy.obj files with a hex editor. Then try to decompile them. I havent worked on them at all, nor has anyone else, so if you do something with them itd be useful.

And a useful tip: if you want to learn how to decompile something, you have to know how to compile right? So fist try to learn normal programming WELL and then try reverse engineering. For example, how would you be able to decompile some compiled shaders if you dont know how to write a shader and compile it? Or how would you know that to activate aa using directx you just have to call a function, if youve never done it before? To do something, first learn how to do it in a program of yours, learn how its done, what the compiler does, and then try to implement it the same way in the game.
