You don't need DBview database. its pointless to have.

and one thing,you don't have to use this db to make server run.

work in local windows 8.1 from my laptop with sqlserver 2008 just follow instruction from page 2.
i will test to my wan ip with router and ibm x3400 windows server 2012.
i hope it work..

you cant directly change from heroes.dbo.item (my table) because they use checksum.
if you change direcly your character cant login forever(error)
