Have you tried waiting for a while?
Depending on how much RAM you assigned to your virtual linux machine it may take a while for the services to load, even though they say they are already running. So don't restart the services right away if the channel doesn't show up immediately. Maybe waiting a few minutes does the trick.
My server runs with 1GB RAM and takes about 5-10 minutes until any channel shows up.

P.S.: The channel list will refresh automatically, so you don't need to relog to see if the channel service is finally done booting.
