Cabal client issues

Hey guys,
ive been through the forum and read through most the guides before trying to set a sever up.
so far ive done everything except patching my client.
i have downloading US client and darkxl's GP-patch.
so here's the problem........
i set up the IP of my centOS in the internal.txt but when running the start cabal batch file, im getting cabal.enc corrupt, now i thought bad install maybe, so i downloaded another client and patched it etc, but still cannot get into my server.
If any one has any ideas please can they let me know or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

US client + saurons patch/rz patch + startcabal.bat with breaklee comand+internal.txt with ips = server up

Thanks so much, i can now run the game and it finds my server, but im unable to create a character, due to unknown DB error ? any ideas ?

Edit : i found a link on one of chumpys posts that fixes this error so im gunna give that ago

Ok that didnt work, i think the problem is with the provider string

DRIVER={SQL Server};SERVER=<servername>;UID=;PWD=";

a video i watched put server name as localhost, is this correct ? if it isnt what should it be ?

Localhost works for some but not others and if not use the windows IP or 127.0.0.1. You can also get rid of the need for the linked server altogether as it isn't really needed the way we run the server.

Just a quick question, im using the US client, can the EU client be used and whats the most up to date that can be used ?
E.G , do we have SIGMETAL items ?

You can add SIGMetal items to your server without updating cabalmain.exe (you need to edit 2 bytes, but that's all).
