Re: Cabal server on a root

You have to do the same as you install the server as on your pc...
CentOS on your Root Server have an own Ip address... Have you installed on your Root MySQL and have you the MySQL correctly configurate ? The MYSQL IP is your root server ip the CentOS ip is the Server IP from cabal. To find out the Cabal Server ip login in CentOS open the terminal and type into "ifconfig"
now you see the CentOS ip (the Cabal Server IP which you have to type into your config)

    I hope i can help

ok.. have you the root at home (home-root-server)? By this you have to give CentOS a DYNDNS address ( www.dyndns.com ) than have CentOS a Lan IP and an Internet IP which dosen't change xP

Re: Cabal server on a root

I just love how people with zero networking knowledge think they can run a server XD

The setup you have is normal. Centos sits on a virtual network which vmware either bridges or NATs connections between the Windows IP and the Centos LAN IP on the virtual network.

I guess your server has a direct IP (i.e. the windows ip does not start 192.x or 10.x) in which case you should have edited the virtual network NAT adaptor in vmware to redirect all connections to the Windows ip that use Cabal ports to the Centos LAN IP on it's virtual network.

So, your client connects to the server WAN IP (Windows). Vmware checks the port the connection is trying to connect to and either forwards the connection to Centos (if it's a Cabal port) or ignores it and lets Windows handle it (non-Cabal ports).

This is all covered in my vmware networking guide so i'm guessing you need to read that so you understand a little more about how the connections go in to Centos. As far as connecting to the "server" you should always use the server's Windows IP and let vmware work out whether the connection is for Centos or not.
