well thx for the help but i can set it up on lan ips i just need to know wat i have chage to make the server poblic a friend told me i need 2 ips i alrdy have and now wat i have to make diferent, all the guides i see so far is for lan only i cant find wan to fixe/public ips if u can help i realy apreciat that
there are some guides on that way too but i will upload something for you!
For making it public you need a router or a modem!
Here is a vmware network guide:http://www.mediafire.com/?fnt14njjzjg
In rest you can handle by other guides!
Credits goes to chumpy!
but is a dedicated server so i gess dont have rooter or modem idk thx for all ur help
if it is a dedicated server that is sure they had a router or a modem or they are in "farm mode" !
I supose u have Vps so that guide should be usefull for you!
I also have a dedicated server but i can remote control itD :P
Good luck!
Cheers
can u guive me ur msn mail will help alot thx
so telme i realy need 2 fixed ips?
not really,but you need 2 ip's
a lan ip which is usually:192.168.xx.x or 62.xxx.xxx.xxx
a wan ip which is usually:89.xxx.xxx.xxx or 195.xx.xxx.xxx etc
to find out if you have a wan ip go in cmd type run and write ipconfig and note what ip you see there!
Then go in your browser and type www.whatismyip.com
if they are different there is OK!
If they are same you can't make a server!
But i think it's ok,usually dedicated server have that!![]()
is ther any chace to ask u to set it up on my dedicated server via team viwer?
you set up u server self la...all people cant help you because all people have own work..
You won't find anyone that will set it up for you for a very simple reason. If you can't set it up yourself you don't actually have the knowledge needed to actuall run the server. Whoever sets it up for you will then be the first person you ask about every configuration change and problem you ever have, that person will literally end up managing the server for you.
There is no "fast tutorial" simply becase it isn't a fast process unless you already know the cabal files inside out, have good networking knowledge, good linux knowledge and good mssql knowledge. The network settings for vmware cannot be documented as everyone's network is different, all we can do is document the process of working out the right settings.
The guides we have are not for lan only, such guides would be useless to us here, you are not quite reading the guides carefullly enough or you aren't quite understanding what they are telling you. Regardless of your network type (direct or via a router, yours will be direct) vmware creates a small virtual network and centos sits on that virtual network and has a LAN IP. Vmware then links the "real" computer to the virtual centos one either by bridging your network and the virtual one (if you have a router) or by Network Address Translation (NAT, which is for direct connections).
Have a look at the topic in my sig for my guides post. There is a vmware networking guide that explains how to work out which type of connection you have and how to work out what settings to use in vmware.
Most of the guides i posted myself;) including vmware networking ;)
and chumpy you are right:)
