@ Chumpy.
I`am using chup`s guide and link to install server but there seems to be HUGE problems with this installation, using CentOS 5.2 (latest for now) there are errors:
1.) Initlog is deprecated and will be removed on future release - when starting/stoping server. So i can post no logs.
2.) command not fount on ... - many errors when shutting down/booting CentOS.
3.) i can`t exactly say if server is working, i have router so i mapped ports 38101; 38121 for 192.168.1.3 (centos station) so anyone could see it from outside, i seems that they are open but i can`t connect to server so chup`s guide possible is missing something or have something wrong. i realy can`t say if server is vorking becose there are no logs... "Initlog is deprecated..." (as service is runing).
SoooOOooo, any one can find a solution?!
You could ac7ualy do STICKY post for common problems so anyone could look at it if having some problems.
Currently 7rying Cent0S 4.#

Re: @ Chumpy.
My guide is actually for Centos4 and not Centos 5, but 5 does work.
The initlog is just a warning and you can ignore it.
"Command not found" doesn't help m if i don't know what command is not found. It sounds like your centos services are messed up somehow so try turning off the failing ones.
You can check the services are running with "service cabal status" but the better way is to look at your log files should be in /var/log/cabal.
There is a sticky in this for common problems and if you had read it you would have known where your logs are. Don't expect 1 sticky to cover EVERY potential problem as there are literally hundreds, that is why we have a forum too.
