Connecting DB to Server over WAN

Is it possible to have the DB and Server on 2 separate pcs connected over WAN? If so, would you just change the MSSQL Server IP Address in ODBC.ini to the WAN SQL IP?

It is already explained on the forums that this is definitely an option... You don't think the official servers use virtualisation software like VMWare, do you?

Yes it's possible,as i am running two different servers hosted on the same place. It's to seperate the resources and such things.
But well, you will be at risk and you can allow a certain IP to enter your mssql.
    Well
