Connection speed between host and the client.

Hello, I'm pretty new to cabal stuff, have only played it.
I have come across an issue - the server is running fine, no errors, same with DB, but when i start my client and log in to the server, its like... laging or something. Its a miracle even to log in a channel and if i manage, to see a monster, do some damage to it, it takes too much time as if there was 2000 latency. I have tried 3 ep8 clients, using Extornia's repack.
Computer specs(I guess you dont need to know more to help me) - intel core i7-2600 @ 3,8ghz, 4gb 1337mhz ram and upload speed of 50mb/s

    Sorry for my bad english.

Only thing i can tell you (don't know if it helps), my upload speed is way lower, we have nearly 12-20 people online and my specs are:
    CPU 6 Core, 3,2 GHz
    16 GB RAM, 1333
    and 7200 RPM Hard Disk

Don't know what is going on at your server but i would suggest you have some problem with your CPU & RAM and its not enough to play the game and host the server at the same time on one machine.

    Greetings

yes, you can play from same machine (Server ~cliente) but... if haven't a GOOOOOOODDD machine, will got lag
if you add more memory, you'll be able to play.. no lag, just add more 4GB.. reforcing.. is not good to real server, just to play alone

in my case, my server test(Not real server), i'm running into same machine (server and cliente) not lag
    A10 580k Black Edition 3.8
    16GB RAM
    SSD120GB
    HD 2TB
    f2a85x-up4

I agree that you can play on the same machine with no lag at all, I guess that you can even play on a PC as a server for as low as 200-300 euro.

The default server/client files by itself should produce no lag, something else must be wrong.

    My PC for daily usage:
    i7-2600k
    8GB Ram
    2x GTX 560 SLI
    GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3
    Normal HDD

    Server:
    Intel G540
    8GB Ram
    Normal HDD

you could try to lower your virtualbox memory allocation to 2gb ram so you could isolate your problem further. (i have not try using 2gb ram allocation for vbox but its worth a try since your resources is not set yet). Its preferable to add extra 4gb ram, tested and running.

My virtualbox is already @ 2gb, the client takes about 800mb ram and i still have 20% left when both are open. I dont really understand, how could something this small cause lags? I have tried running even bigger things and they didnt lag. Could it be because of the fact that the server is running on vbox? Could vbox cause some lags, freezes or something like that?

Bridged, i have a router so i must use them.. I may try disconnecting the router, do you think that would stop the lag spikes?

If u use win 7 get cpu meter+pc meter and network meter then u can monitor the things easyer ...
I have lowbudget pc /phenom 2 840 4x3.2 with no l3 6gb ram a crappy 9600gt and normal hdd + 8/1mb net but i have like 10 milisec delay or maybe smaller !Even if 20 ppl online ! And yes all things run from 1 pc like mssql oracle a bonus webserver and game too !
Also must try the new repack maded by Toast if im good !

vbox is not the one causing the lag; definitely its your hardware. there could be overlapping or your memory or its using pagefile in the excess usage of your installed ram, which might causes the lag.

Also, i noticed that people are talking about CentOS 32bit and CentOS 64bit. My CentOS is i386, maybe thats causing the lags?

The Machine Not The Virtual Machine.

Try Cleaning It Maybe Its Full Of Dust And Check Cables If There's A Dented Part Replace If There Is One Check Router Check Everything Regarding Hardware. And Also Check Traffic Of Your Net. Check All The Possible Reasons Why.

    Good Luck!

I gave up, uninstalled everything thats related to cabal.. checked everything, there really were no reason for it to lag.
