Ok i gotz a question:
I installed everything fine.
than i gotz 1 error about the unixODBC.
He cant find libtdsodbc.so.0 at usr/lib.
i saw on this forum i had to install FreeTDS.
So i installed freeTDS.
But he still cant find libtdsodbc.so.0 at usr/lib.
i checked usr/lib but there isnt a libtdsodbc.so.0
So my question is: What do i have to do now :)
Right now i cant get in my winscp idk why 5 mins ago i could get in.
so i cant upload any log files :(
or i can find the log files somewhere else than i can.

EDIT: gotz another error like 1 hour ago i could ping my windows to centos and centos to windows but now none off them pings.

EDIT: i can ping again to both off them but still i have no idea have to install FreeTDS

Are you using centos 4 or 5? Does the file exist?

If using centos 4 the following commands should cure it:

rpm -Uvh /root/unixODBC-2.2.11-1.RHEL4.1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh /root/unixODBC-devel-2.2.11-1.RHEL4.1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh /root/unixODBC-kde-2.2.11-1.RHEL4.1.i386.rpm

For centos 5 use:

yum install unixODBC
yum install unixODBC-devel
yum install unixODBC-kde

I suspect you are trying to install the wrong version of the libs by selecting the wrong mode when installing. If in doubt use the centos 5 method above and it should install the correct version.

As for bumping the general rule at RZ is 2 weeks but if it has left the 1st page and has not been answered then i would let that go. If it's on the first page and has not yet been answered it means i haven't been here yet since it was posted ;)

The file doesnt exist
im useing centos 5
and when i use those commands i get the message that they are already installed and the lastest version for all 3 off them.

Weird, that is where mine are. Run a search on the files and then edit /etc/odbcinst.ini to correct the paths to the files.

Oki i found that file
and chanced it to the right directory but now i get the error

Ah this explains it. I take it you are running 64-bit Centos? I have never tested this and it looks like parts of my repack are not compatible with 64-bit, though i'm sure i have seen posts where people have done this. At a guess i would say you will need to find the 64-bit versions of the following:

rpm -Uvh unixODBC-2.2.11-1.RHEL4.1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh unixODBC-devel-2.2.11-1.RHEL4.1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh unixODBC-kde-2.2.11-1.RHEL4.1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh freetds-unixodbc-0.64RC3-1.i386.rpm

Go to Index of /centos.org (or another local Centos mirror) and into the folder for the centos 5.x version you have. Go into os/SRPMS/ and grab the files, then use:

rpm -Uvh <rpm name>

I will have to test this and modify cabal_install.sh to support 64-bit. I'm grabbing the ISO now.

The names will be slightly diferent as they won't have RHEL4.i386 at the end.

My last answer was stupid, of course the 64-bit installer YUMs the right files. I don't even know why i suggested that but i'm definitely rusty after my little vacation :/

The server is compiled against 32-bit odbc and it doesn't like the 64-bit version at all. I have been trying to force-compile a 32-bit version on an x64 centos and it isn't working out. I have a few more things to try but the easiest fix is probably to use a 32-bit centos install until i figure it out as my install scripts are definitely going to need changing for 64-bit support.

You can get away with just centos CD1 when installing 32-bit. When installing and it asks about packages to install select "customize now" and un-tick everything in every section except the "base" package (that says it is good for routers). After the centos installation run cabal_install normally, say you are NOT upgrading a server and NOT installing on centos 4 and it will download everything it needs. That will get you working for now as i don't think this is going to be an easy problem to solve.

I would make another VM, or boot the centos CD and overwrite that way. 32-bit will work fine on a 64-bit machine/windows as i have Win7 x64 and all but 1 of my VMs are 32-bit.

Ah, that one you can ignore. At this stage you have empty databases and no war results for the server to read which is why there is an error. There is plenty of "Database Connect success!" which means it is now getting through.

All you need to do is run a TG channel once and that error will go away.

Post a full set of logs and that will tell me why. Usually it's a mis-configuration somewhere but the first place to check is the loginsvr log to see if it has your connection attempts listed. From there it is usually down to the gamesevrer IP set in cabal_config not matching internal.txt or port forwarding problems.

That error will happen as you have no nationwar results yet. There is some "database connect success!" though which means it is now connecting ok.

Where is it failing now, is it getting past the user/pass screen? Does the loginsvr log show your connection attempts?

The loginsvr is coming up ok so it must be networking somewhere.

If you have a router make sure your WAN IP (What Is My IP Address - Shows Your IP Address) is in your internal.txt (unless testing locally) and that you have forwarded ports on your router. VMWare networking should be set to "Bridged".

If you don't have a router (i.e. your main windows IP doesn't start 192.x or 10.x) then VMWare should be set to "NAT" and the port forwarding done on the vmware NAT interface.

Try running cabal_config and using the local ip for the gameserver and the same in internal.txt. With a local config port forwarding and router issues don't affect it. You might have one of the router types that won't let people inside the LAN log in using the WAN IP address but a local setup shoud always work if configured correctly.

Ok i think i found the problem at vmware it was at custom not at bridged but if i put it on bridged centos cant ping to windows and windows cant ping to centos

Edit: ok i found out too that my ports werent open yet opened them but still they both cant ping eachother :(
