Game Won't Work With WAN IP

I've been trying to make it so the game works via my WAN IP, but I'm not having any luck....

If I try to connect by setting the game to my CentOS LAN IP, then I'm able to connect just fine...

It's just with WAN, that it doesn't work... I forwarded my ports, but I noticed that they werent opening.... Not sure as to why, they were properly forwarded.

One thing I noticed, that might be of some relivence, is that during the server install using chumps repack when it asks me to get my WAN IP, if I say y it doesn't return a WAN IP. It just stays blank...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Why do I have to change the Cabalmain.exe...? I modified the internal.txt to have my WAN IP, and setup the server with my WAN IP. Shouldn't that be all i need to do?

Re: Game Won't Work With WAN IP

I'm pretty sure we have all experienced this before... My WAN IP decided to show up randomly one day rather than show blank space... Other than that I had to manually type it in.

As of why it's not working/can't login, I'm unsure of...

    As for
    change client :) or cabalmain.exe
Without replacing the CabalMain.exe with the patch, he wouldn't even have the internal.txt in the first place...

I noticed that the ports 38181 and 38121 received a Reason: Connection refused response when itried to check it they're open... All other ports are open though, do you think this might be the problem?

Hm... I recommend setting a 'DMZ' on your router to the CentOS local IP if you can.

Have you tried forwarding all the necessary ports to your centos ip?

Thankfully with the help of matrixfinity I got it working.

However, my question now is... Am I able to have the server running on my WAN IP and then somehow connect using a client that is using my LAN IP? Reason I ask is because, due to my modem type I can't connect to my own WAN IP.

Have you ever considered buying a router. I recommend it!

You cant have a lan if you only have a modem.

Actually, my modem is a hybrid of the two.. Which is causing me serious grief in terms of web development and now private server development. I do own a router... However, having a router attached to a hybrid modem/router just seems pointless to say the least.

I'm trading in my hybrid for a wired modem probably tomorrow.

    1) Hybrids almost never work as good as seperate pieces of hardware, ESPECIALLY if it's company-issued.
(Let's say ComCast issued you one, it's not going to be as good for programming as using your own router).

    2) For the issue of connecting behind your router, without going WAN (and taking up the bandwidth), that depends on the router.
Most people on this site don't know much beyond the specialty of the game they take an interest in, and maybe some coding.

There's a thing called "NAT Loopback", and depending on how the company who makes your router programs it, determines whether or not you can have back-facing and forward-facing IP addresses connect to the server, simultaneously.

If you plan on hosting multiple games, you may have to have Loopback set to "All" (meaning all LAN traffic goes to WAN before LAN again).
This is actually required for certain games, such as Eudemons, to host on WAN (otherwise it never hits WAN).
If you've already tried connecting to it VIA it's LAN address, check your router for a NAT/Loopback function.
If you can't find one, consider downloading the custom router firmware called "Tomato", it will show all hidden options.

Any more questions, feel free to ask! :)
