Best advice on this time is start reading and learning linux basics otherwise you might encounter plenty of problems. There's no need for another guide, just setup as it was on vmware

Dude...really....ok Here this is plain and simple...and ALL I will tell you:

If you want to install the server on a Stand Alone Server...then you simply follow the guides on installing in a VM...except this time, you pretend your server is a VM...

The setup is the same (minus the settings for Hardware ofcourse...)

btw....a word of advice.....if you are using CentOS 4.x then you will need to either upgrade to a newer CentOS (5.4 or better), or read up on the "proper" way to change the baseurl's and mirrorlists for your repos to point you to vault.centos.org/"your version/$basearch (adjust as needed..but that is like 90% of the script line you need)

without that, you will not be able to update or install ANYTHING new including packs and rpms libs...and well like I said anything....so DO IT!!!

    ---------------Had to come back-----------------

Flat out your best bet is to just get a repack.....and use it to learn...

Cabal Server....not the MOST "starter" friendly server to build
Linux/CentOS ... not the MOST "starter" friendly OS' to use...

Basically if you dont know both Linux and Cabal....you are going to have a very hard time building this from scratch...

GO to the releases, and download somebodies 4.x Repack release...

dortdort used to have an excellent one...

its pre-built...minimal scripting needed to install and start....functional, and completely upgradable to modern projects....

That is your BEST chance at both getting the server up and learning at the same time
