Some Info :
Centos IP : 10.0.0.3
tryed to to eth0:0 Routh also.
Windows IP : As Written in my local area connection 10.0.0.1
in the SQL > Links > gameserver >

Insted of localhost i have (LOCAL) ( only way for the link to work )
if it has anything to do with it.
Inside ODBC.ini at /root/etc/odbc.ini i have 10.0.0.1 Which is my Windows IP.
Inside Gen_Config i tryed Putting 127.0.0.1 , 10.0.0.1 , 10.0.0.138 ( Default Gateway of windows Local Area Connection ) , 10.0.0.3
and still getting this error.
All /root/etc/cabal has Centos IP

All other Logs doesnt seem to have any Errors.
only DBAgent_24.


I'm Sure i did everything Mahi did in his Movie Guide.
I'm Sure installed freetds
I'm Sure i searched for all the messages and didnt get a solution
I'm Sure my cabal user and password is right and works for all Databases.

Someone has another solution?
i'm not behind Router and i use SQL 2000

Are you sure you have the right database username and password? Check your sql security against your .ini files

Mahi's Video's Never showed how to Re-Install freetds.

yeah I know but it shows how to install. Ok, my purpose is to let you learn so that you can troubleshoot things on your own.

Open up a terminal window in your CentOS then issue this command
go to the directory where you dump your freetds-uniodbc rpm. In this case from Mahi's video its /root then do this :

rpm -ivh freetds-unixodbc-0.64RC3-1.i386.rpm --force

after that edit your odbc.ini in /etc then copy the edited odbc.ini to /usr/loca/etc just in case in reads your odbc config in that directory

Lastly, read some or google some linux commands

yeah I know but it shows how to install. Ok, my purpose is to let you learn so that you can troubleshoot things on your own.

Open up a terminal window in your CentOS then issue this command
go to the directory where you dump your freetds-uniodbc rpm. In this case from Mahi's video its /root then do this :

rpm -ivh freetds-unixodbc-0.64RC3-1.i386.rpm --force

after that edit your odbc.ini in /etc then copy the edited odbc.ini to /usr/loca/etc just in case in reads your odbc config in that directory

Lastly, read some or google some linux commands

I tryed to figure my self whats the command to "Re-Install" but couldnt figure what it is.


I did what you just told me to do but it aint worked.
i Re-Installed FreeTDS and put the ODBC.ini Configured aswell in usr/local/etc and in my /etc aswell
and edited all ip's in /etc/cabal to Centos IP


Anything Ealse to suggest?

This is your clue. work from there. obviously your odbc cannot connect to your windos mssql. Please check everything from Windows side. Is the sql server running? check the service. Open up your sql server check if added a security user as a systems administrator with all the priviledges in your ACCOUNT database.

Are you using the default

I suspect this is a permissions problem at the database end. Have you tried using your sa user and pass instead of cabal/cabal?

inside network connections i have
IP adress: 10.0.0.1
Mask 255.255.0
Gateway : 10.0.0.138

what i have in ODBC.ini = 10.0.0.1

i dont have any other Vmware or connections in Networks in windows.

There is no "breakthrough" to be had, there is nothing wrong with the server it is your config somewhere. Nobody can just point and tell you what to do without first doing exactly whay you should be, checking each part of the configuration until you find one that is wrong. We don't know what your config should be so all we can do is point you at things to check.

From the centos machine terminal type "telnet 10.0.0.1 1433", if the screen goes blank then mssql is listening fine and your config (likely user/pass or db permissions) is wrong. If it says connection timed out then either yu have a firewall in the way, screwed networking setup or you are very mistaken about what your ip addresses are.

We can't point you any closer to a solution than you already are. Troubleshooting network connectivity issues is the easiest problem you will face running the server and it is something you need to learn how to do as nobody else can point and go "change that" without pretty much sitting in front of the computer and doing it for you after checking your entire config.

Seemed like you pointed the problem.
when i did "telnet 10.0.0.1 1433" in Terminal of centos i get Connection refused.

which means thats the problem right?

can u explain me how to fix it?
i'v tryed like milion combinations but without any success.
i do want to do things my own and try fix my self , most of the times i do.


i Bridged connection at Vmware
no other Connection of vmware in "My Network Connections"
only Local Area Connection
IP adress :10.0.0.1
Subnet mask : 255.0.0.0
Gaterway : 10.0.0.138
No Firewall Enabled

from that info , how do i configure everything so centos will have permission?

That is English, iptables is a linux service so check your services.

IPv6 does not affect it but i'm not sure about selinux (i have mine disabled though). Check your network security in Centos.

i managed to connect only throw NAT , Dont know how to config so Bridge will work :/

Ok so i managed to use Bridge Connection
and i have an Centos IP 192.168.157.128
but when i put it on all the /etc/cabal/
and i get Login Error in DBAgent_24 Log. ( Error = Login incorrect )
and my Logins ( cabal , sa ) are all fine.

i tryed to route eth0:0 to 10.0.0.1 which is my Local Area Connection IP.
but no success.

i tryed typing "SETUP" in Terminal and configue the network connection to 10.0.0.2 IP but still Login Error in DBAgent_24 Log.

when i do telnet 192.168.157.128 1433 , it faileds.
when i do telnet 10.0.0.2 1433 , it works
and i think that with 10.0.0.1 1433 it works too.
but still , when i do the 192.168.157.128 1433 i get error.
and from what i understood , i need to put my Centos Ip in etc/cabal which is 192.168.157.128

and when i use 192.168.157.128 for /etc/cabal
i get
DBAgent_24 Error in the log ( Error = Login incorrect )

when i put 10.0.0.1 in all the IP's which is Windows Local Area Connection IP.
i get no errors , only RemoteADDr something like that.

but i cant connect to server.
i tryed connecting to client with 10.0.0.1 , 192.168.157.128 , 10.0.0.2 , 10.0.0.138 ( which is my Gateway in Local Area Connection ) but no work.
all timed out.

Works on Bridge Connection.
Internet in Centos Works.

my IP when i do "ifconfig" is 192.168.157.128
my Windows Local Area Connection IP = 10.0.0.1 GateWay = 10.0.0.138
