yeah the i see the ODBC.ini and you will have to config it to! i miss that part!

You do not use the "attach" command with these you have to chose "restore database" and select the file as the device to restore from (or create a backup device, point it to the file and restore from the device). These are the original backup dumps and not the detached mdf/ldf copies that people have been playing with ;)

If you use 2000 create the database in enterprise manager first. Right-click the database and select All tasks->Restore database, set Restore: to "from device" and the window will change a bit. Now click "select devices" and press Add on the new panel, use the browse button here to select the database backup to restore.

Now press Ok twice and you should be back on the General tab. Change to the Options tab and tick "force restore over existing database" and it will restore over the current database (everything in the current database wll be lost!).
