How to create a private Cabal Server?

Hey guys,

Though I'm new to this forum, I have read a lot of topics about creating private servers.
But due to the large amount of Downloads and Databases and Files... I don't know what to download first and what after and where to put the files in. F.e. if I have to create folders and put the different parts for the DB in it, or just extract them or what.
Please don't refer to chumywumpy's or andbody elses Thread - I've read them put there is no current order in which I have to download and so, so they don't help me (they are great anyway :-)).

All I want to have is kind of User Guide in which stands what I have to download (if there's a Guide too, it may be better) and where to put it in. An instuction.
F.e.:
1. Download abc, extract it an put in a a new folder called "xyz"
2. ...
3. ...

Is soemthing of that kind already existing, so anybody could give me the link (the search doesn't like me <.<)?
I hope you understand what I mean and it wouldn't be helpful just for me but for every new Member who doesn't understand so much from running a private server, Mysql and so on.

The reason there is no guide that simple is because setting up the server isn't simple either and anyone not already familiar with running private servers is going to have a certain amount of figuring things out to do. Even those familiar with private servers have a certain amount of figuring out to do. There are certain parts of the process (such as network settings or deciding whether to use 2 machines or vmware and 1) that no guide can tell you though and you need to understand this before you even start.

There is no specific order things have to be downloaded or done in (though obviously you can't do things like install the databases until you have mssql installed) you just have to tack each part 1 at a time. Generally i would start with setting up mssql and installing the databases, then install centos and finally put the server files into centos. You could easily do centos first though.

My own guides and files are aimed specifically at people new to this and are about as simple as they can be made. Simply start at the top and work downwards as the post is laid out in the order it is for that very reason. Anything needed that is not specifically linked in my post or in the guide will be on darkxl's sticky in the releases section.

If/when you get stuck just post something in the help section as you are almost guaranteed an answer from me even if nobody else replies. Getting stuck if perfectly normal and is the whole reason this section is here ;)

Now I understand why there is no specific order how to install things.
And logically I can't install anything on mssql if I even don't have VMware :-P

Then I have another question, what do I need to have at all?
- VMware (or a second PC for choice)
- mssql (2000 or 2005 are the best I read)
- The thing from linux installed on Vmware (I don't know it's name by now)
- the databases

That is everything. Other than darkxl's sticky in the release section Mssql 2005 Express can be downloaded for free from microsoft and you can find centos (the linux thing) cd or dvd images at centos.org. You can also download vmware server for free at vmware.com but i recommend going for v1.7 and not v2.x as i tried vmware server 2 at work today and it is very different to what we have in the guides (much bigger download and mem usage too).
