    Installing Cabal Server on Debian

    Hey all!

I got a vServer but I can only install Debian, Gentoo or Slackware. So I choose Debian to install cabal on. I unpacked the server files in /root/ and manually "aliened" the RHEL libs. Then I looked in the cabal_install.sh which files to install and which setiings to do. I executed the cabal_config file and chose the setting as same as I would do them in CentOS.
The script ran through de procedure without any errors except 3 chmod commands which i did manually later. I looked for the config files in /etc/home/cabal/ and they are right. Now, i got a problem: I dont know how to start the services manually coz the normal service-start commands dont work. Anybody knows how to get them running or can you give me some tips how to install the files better on other operating systems like Gentoo or Slackware ?

Re: Installing Cabal Server on Debian

    First..
Its possible to install the Server files on ANY Linux-system.
includes Debian, slakware,Damn Small Linux, suse or any other kind of.
but i guess, you have to install other system-stuff to get it working Proper.

    second..
Why you didnt checked the OS before Buying/hire a Dedi ??
    Cant understand it.

    Third..
Try to contact your Server-Provider and ask him,if he would Install CentOS on it.maybe you've got luck, and get what you need :P

    regards
